Objective 1
Describe the
problems psychology must face as a young science.
Explanation:
My textbook, Psychology Tenth Edition in Modules, says psychology is the science of behavior and mental processes, and the Merriam-Webster dictionary says science is the knowledge about or study of the natural world based on facts learned through experiments and observations. This is where psychology faces its first problem. Some people don't consider psychology a science because it doesn't have laws that happen every time like Newton's Laws of Motion. Psychology can change in every situation and with different people. Another problem psychology faces is that people are unpredictable. Science is always the same. a2+b2 will always equal c2. People on the other hand change all the time. We don't know why a seemingly normal person would go to a school with a gun and kill kids. People all think differently. Psychology tries to explain behaviors, but there will always be random things that go against what we think of as a normal behavior. The mind is very complex and hard to predict

Example:
I used this website, http://www.buffalo.edu/news/releases/2006/02/7796.html, for one of my examples. It tells about 20 court cases that involved psychology. The cases show the limitations of psychology in the search for the truth and highlight conflicts that sometimes come between psychology and the legal system.
